The reform of the university system has provided new ways of allocating funding to universities, based on standard cost and evaluation criteria. At the same time, it introduced the accreditation of training and research activities by the National Evaluation Agency, economic and financial accounting instead of financial accounting, strict organizational rules. From which managerial logic should the actions of the Director General, the new management body of the University, be guided? As well as all management, the General Manager accompanies the Rector in the development of the organization, manages the top management team, motivates the staff within paths of continuous improvement of their technical skills and relationships. The CoDAU, under the patronage of the CRUI Foundation, has developed a training program with highly innovative features for the public administration, of which this book illustrates some methodologies and results. In concrete terms, a "gymnasium" has been set up with training tools for managers and general managers, to train soft skills, starting from strong technical skills, and to develop the ability to transmit and guide working methods aimed at achieving increasingly challenging management objectives, as well as the satisfaction of stakeholders in an internationally competitive environment.
