Alberto Felice De Toni is Professor Emeritus of Management Engineering at the University of Udine where he teaches “Management of Complex Systems”. He is also Scientific Director of CUOA Business School and member of the Academia Europæa.
He was born in 1955 in Curtarolo (PD). After graduating from scientific high school, he obtained the magna cum laude degree in Chemical Engineering and the PhD in Industrial Innovation Science at the University of Padua.
He was Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Udine from October 2006 to September 2012, Rector from October 2013 to September 2019, Secretary General of the CRUI (Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities) from November 2015 to January 2019, President of the CRUI Foundation from February 2019 to May 2021, President of the Italian Association of Management Engineering, President of the National Commission of the MIUR for the reorganization of Technical and Professional Education, President of the Agenzia per lo Sviluppo Economico della Montagna del Friuli Venezia Giulia, Vice President of Area Science Park of Trieste, President of the Supervisory Body of CINECA, President of the Independent Performance Evaluation Body of the Istituto Superiore della Sanità and member of the Strategic Steering Committee of the EUI (European University Institute).
As part of the Magnifici Incontri - promoted by CRUI on 29 and 30 June 2017 in Udine - he organized, with the patronage of MIUR, the G7 University – Education for All. During this event, members of over 170 universities and organizations from Europe, America and Asia developed the so-called "Udine G7 University Manifesto".
He is the author of over 400 national and international scientific publications. The main research areas are: Operations Management, Innovation Management and Complexity Management.
